Bent Willow Band Wisconsin Bluegrass Band
About the Milwaukee, WI Wisconsin Bluegrass Wedding and Special Events Band

For the last two years, the Bent Willow Band has been evolving and developing its identity as a non-traditional acoustic band throughout the Milwaukee area. The band, consisting of guitar, upright bass, mandolin/cello, and fiddle, is comprised of a group of friends who has enjoyed playing music together in different settings for more than five years. The fun they have jamming and spending time together is evident in every show they play. Each member brings a unique musical background to the stage - no pun intended! Marty Honel (lead vocals and guitar) has been playing folk, Irish, and bluegrass music throughout the Milwaukee area for many years. Jerry Williams (upright bass) has loved music his whole life and, after teaching himself the bass, spends most of his time playing old-time bluegrass and Irish music. Erin Bergstrom (lead vocals, mandolin, and cello) brings her classical training as well as a passion for Irish music to the band. Emily Sommer (fiddle) has a strong classical background as well but has spent the last several years playing bluegrass and Irish music around town. The Bent Willow Band is known for its strong three-part vocal harmonies, unique instrumentation utilizing the cello, and eclectic arrangements of some older songs, such as John Hartford’s “In Tall Buildings” and the traditional tune “Orphan Girl,” among many others. They have brought their music to festivals, benefits, bars, coffee shops, and private functions throughout the Milwaukee area, and hope to bring their passion for music and performance to many more.
